U.S. Open Contestant Garret Rank Added to Windsor Championship Field

The Windsor Championship is pleased to announce that current NHL Referee and recent U.S. Open participant Garret Rank has been awarded a sponsor exemption to participate in the Windsor Championship at Ambassador Golf Club.

Rank is a three-time Canadian Mid-Amateur Champion and a former member of Golf Canada's National Team. The 30-year old is coming off his first ever U.S. Open appearance where he missed the cut. Rank earned international media accolades for being able to combine his day job as an NHL Referee who called 72 games last season, while maintaining his position as one of the world's best amateur golfers.

Rank hails from Elmira, Ontario and played both golf and hockey at the University of Waterloo. He decided to focus his career on officiating when was offered a job with the NHL in 2012. Rank has played in one other Mackenzie Tour - PGA TOUR Canada event where he missed the cut in the 2015 Players Cup.

Rank joins Thomas DeMarco, David Byrne, Matt Hill, Kyle Mueller, and Christian Dimarco who were also awarded sponsor exemptions to compete in the tournament.

The Windsor Championship is the fifth stop on the Mackenzie Tour - PGA TOUR Canada and will be played July 5th to 8th at Ambassador Golf Club which has previously hosted the Freedom 55 Financial Championship (2011) and many other amateur and professional events including most recently the Golf Ontario Men's Amateur (2017) and Women's Amateur (2016).
